Faith for the Week: Wait on the Lord

Faith for the Week: Wait on the Lord
Bridging The Gaps Ministry

The Bridge - Faith for the Week is a moment to pause, reflect, and receive encouragement grounded in God’s Word for the days ahead.

Scripture (ASV)

“but they that wait for Jehovah shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.” — Isaiah 40:31 (ASV)

Reflection

Most of us know the second half of this verse by heart. The wings like eagles, the running without growing weary. That is the part that gets quoted. The verse, though, opens with a word we tend to read past. Wait.

Waiting is not a word we welcome. It feels like being stuck, like nothing is moving. The waiting this verse describes is something else. The word underneath it carries the sense of leaning toward God, turning to Him with expectation rather than sitting in an empty room watching the clock.

Then comes the promise. Strength gets renewed. Renewed means it returns, and what was spent is restored. That is not something you produce by trying harder or sleeping more. It is something God does in you when you turn toward Him instead of away.

You may be running on strength you used up a long time ago. The invitation here is not to push harder. It is to wait, in the truest sense of the word, and let Him refill what you cannot refill on your own.

Application

Take one place where you have been forcing your way through on empty, and bring it to God this week instead of carrying it alone.

Prayer

Father, I am tired in places I do not always admit. Thank You that strength is something You renew, not something I have to manufacture. Teach me to wait on You with my whole heart, and to trust that You will restore what I have run out of. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Closing

You were never meant to be your own source. He is, and He does not run low.
