Bridging The Gaps Ministry

Don't Miss It

A short Bible study, free in your inbox every Sunday. Each one takes a single verse and looks at what's easy to read past: a small word, a detail in the story, or a thread that runs through the rest of the Bible. You don't need any Bible background. We explain the words as we go.

Free. One email a week. Unsubscribe any time.

What you get each Sunday

  • The verse, word for word from the American Standard Version
  • What's easy to miss in it
  • Where the same thread shows up elsewhere in Scripture
  • A deeper look at the words the Bible was first written in
  • A question to sit with
  • A short prayer to close

A taste

From Entry 128, “No Longer I.” You can say “Christ liveth in me” (Christ lives in me) and still feel like you're the one running the show. But the verse doesn't start there. It starts with a crucifixion, in the past tense, already accomplished.

I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I that live, but Christ liveth in me: and that life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith which is in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.Galatians 2:20 (ASV)

The American Standard Version (ASV) is an older Bible translation, so a few words sound old. We tell you what they mean.
