Faith for the Week: They Shall Walk and Not Faint
The Bridge - Faith for the Week is a moment to pause, reflect, and receive encouragement grounded in God’s Word for the days ahead.
Scripture (ASV)
“But they that wait for Jehovah shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.” - Isaiah 40:31 (ASV)
Reflection
This month started here, in Isaiah 40:31, and it closes here too, at the last phrase. Soaring and running get most of the attention in this verse, the eagle moments where God shows up in a way you can feel, and the seasons of real momentum where you can sense yourself moving forward. Walking gets mentioned last, and it’s the one most of us live in.
Walking is the ordinary Tuesday. It’s the week where nothing dramatic happens and you still have to show up, still have to do the next thing, with no highlight reel to show for it. It would be easy to read that as the smallest promise in the verse, but it isn’t. God put walking in the same sentence as the wings, covered by the same strength, held to the same standard of not fainting.
Most of a faithful life is the walking part. Not the highlight reel. The Tuesday, the week that looked exactly like the one before it. If you’ve spent this month waiting on Him, letting Him strengthen what’s underneath, this is where all of that lands, in the ordinary walk that doesn’t feel like much but is still covered.
Application
Notice the most ordinary part of your week ahead, the part with no highlight reel. Let yourself believe that part is covered too.
Prayer
Father, thank You that the quiet, steady walk is covered by the same promise as the wings. When my days feel slow and unremarkable, remind me that You haven’t gone anywhere. Keep me from fainting in the parts of life nobody applauds. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
The walk you’re on right now, the one that doesn’t feel like much, is still held.
