Finding Strength in God, Not Yourself
The Bridge - Faith for the Week is a moment to pause, reflect, and receive encouragement grounded in God’s Word for the days ahead.
Scripture
“He giveth power to the faint; and to him that hath no might he increaseth strength.”
— Isaiah 40:29 (ASV)
Reflection
Many of us are taught to keep going, stay strong, and figure things out on our own. Over time, that pressure can leave us feeling depleted — not because we lack faith, but because we’ve been carrying more than we were meant to carry alone.
Scripture reminds us that strength is not something we have to manufacture. God gives strength to those who are faint and increases power where it is lacking. This verse doesn’t praise self-sufficiency; it points us toward dependence on God. When our own strength runs low, His does not.
Finding strength in God means releasing the need to hold everything together by ourselves. It’s an act of trust — acknowledging our limits and allowing God to supply what we cannot. In doing so, we discover that real strength is sustained by Him, not by our own effort.
Application
This week, consider where you may be relying only on your own strength.
You may find it helpful to pause and honestly bring your weariness to God. Instead of pushing harder, invite Him to strengthen you in the places you feel weak. Let dependence on God become a source of peace, not pressure.
Prayer
God,
I admit that I often try to rely on my own strength.
Thank You for reminding me that You give strength when I am weary.
Help me trust You with what I cannot carry alone.
Renew me as I lean on You.
Amen.
Closing
You don’t have to rely on yourself alone. God supplies strength when you need it most.
