When You Don’t Know What to Do Next
The Bridge’s - Faith for the Week is a moment to pause, reflect, and receive encouragement grounded in God’s Word for the days ahead.
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all liberally and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
— James 1:5 (ASV)
Reflection
There are moments in life when you honestly don’t know what to do next. You may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure which direction to take. Sometimes the options in front of you all feel unclear, and the pressure to “figure it out” can feel heavy.
Scripture reminds us that not knowing is not a failure. God does not expect us to have all the answers before coming to Him. In fact, James tells us that when we lack wisdom, we are invited to ask God for it — freely, without judgment, and without being made to feel ashamed.
Often, we believe we need clarity before we can move forward. But God does not ask us to be certain before we trust Him. He asks us to come honestly, admitting what we don’t know, and to rely on Him for guidance one step at a time.
Sometimes the gap isn’t faith — it’s understanding. And God is patient in filling that gap.
Application
This week, if you’re unsure about what to do next, try releasing the pressure to have everything figured out. Instead of asking for all the answers at once, ask God for wisdom for today.
You may find it helpful to pause and pray before making decisions, reminding yourself that God’s guidance often comes step by step, not all at once.
Prayer
God, there are moments when I don’t know which way to go.
I come to You needing wisdom, clarity, and peace.
Help me trust You even when I don’t have answers.
Guide my thoughts, steady my heart, and show me the next right step.
Thank You for being patient with me and generous with Your wisdom.
Amen.
Closing
Take this week one step at a time. God is already there.
